Taking Inspiration from the American Girl Doll collection started by Pleasant Company (and currently owned by Mattel), the project, American Girl Doll ™, uses the personal narrative of the “doll” character to perform a representation of the American Nationalist identity. By using a mix of American Traditional Craft and American Iconographic Images, the character of the doll is playing with America’s obsession with a great past that never truly existed. Behind her pink facade, she is bloody and cannibalistic. She plays house with the dead deer in her backyard and all her books are banned. She worships PARIS HILTON and her house has peeled wallpaper falling apart at every edge. 𝜗𝜚
